DRS Puts Class 57 Locomotives Up for Sale in Major Asset Disposal
Direct Rail Services has opened expressions of interest for the sale of a number of surplus rail assets, offering what it describes as a significant opportunity for industry buyers.
At the centre of the sale are four British Rail Class 57 locomotives, with the following units available:
• 57304
• 57307
• 57308
• 57309
Alongside the locomotives, the company is also making a range of associated components available. These include parts and materials linked to both Class 57 and British Rail Class 37 fleets, as well as items from Mk2 coaching stock.
The offering is expected to attract interest from a broad range of buyers, including rail operators, maintenance providers and heritage organisations seeking proven rolling stock and spare equipment.
DRS, a well-established name in the UK’s rail freight and logistics sector, has indicated that the sale presents a rare chance to acquire reliable assets and materials from within its fleet.
