Emergency incident at Tonbridge causes rail delays this evening
Emergency services have now stood down following an earlier incident between Redhill and Tonbridge, which caused disruption to rail services in the area.
While crews were dealing with the situation, trains running through the affected section were subject to delays of up to 25 minutes, as well as alterations to services. Power to the line was temporarily switched off to allow emergency responders to work safely.
The lines are now expected to reopen shortly, with an estimated time of 19:45. Power has been restored, enabling Southern to begin resuming services between the two stations.
Passengers are advised that while services are starting to recover, some trains may still be cancelled. Journey planners and station information boards should be checked before travelling for the latest updates.
Customers are also being warned to allow up to an additional 30 minutes for their journeys this evening as the timetable returns to normal.
