Police have confirmed the identity of a 14-year-old boy who died on the railway in Burton Joyce, as his family issue a heartfelt tribute. Officers were called to the line shortly after 7pm on Wednesday 26 November following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Emergency services attended, but despite their efforts, the boy – Joshua Travis – was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

In a statement, Joshua’s family spoke of their devastation and shared a tribute that reflected the joy he brought to those around him. They said:

“Josh was a lad with an incredibly energy for life, an infectious and mischievous smile, kind sparkling eyes, and so much love to give. He leaves a gap in our lives that is and will always be impossible to fill, and we will miss him forever.”

Joshua’s family have also released a photograph of him and are now asking for privacy as they begin to process their loss.
