Freight Train Breakdown Blocks Railway Between Lincoln and Doncaster

A broken down freight train between Lincoln Central railway station and Doncaster railway station has blocked all lines through the area, leading to cancellations on the route for the rest of the evening.

East Midlands Railway said it is waiting for further information from the freight operator while efforts continue to move the failed train and reopen the railway.

As a result of the blockage, EMR is unable to operate services between Lincoln and Doncaster in either direction tonight. Disruption is expected to continue until the end of service.

The following trains have been cancelled:

• 19:34 Lincoln to Doncaster

• 20:52 Doncaster to Lincoln

The cancelled trains are the final two services scheduled on the route this evening, although a normal timetable is currently expected to resume tomorrow.

East Midlands Railway said it is attempting to arrange replacement road transport for affected passengers while the line remains blocked.

National Rail Enquiries have now provided an update on this via X:

East Midlands Railway have sourced a rail replacement bus to cover the 20:52 Doncaster to Lincoln service, this will extend journey times by up to 60 minutes.

Passengers are being advised to check live journey updates before travelling in case of further changes.
