GB Railfreight 99003 and 99004 Locomotives Arrive at Bristol Port for Testing

GB Railfreight has welcomed the arrival of two new locomotives, 99003 and 99004, at Bristol Port Company’s Royal Portbury Dock on Thursday 27 November.

The units are set to undergo a series of tests in the coming weeks before joining their sister locomotives, 99001 and 99002, which are nearing readiness for entry into service early next year.

Alex Kirk, Commercial Director at GB Railfreight, said:

“As we prepare for the 99s to enter service in the new year, it was nice to receive an early Christmas gift from Valencia. The Class 99s delivers performance and environmental benefits for our customers, and will herald a rail freight revolution in 2026.”

The introduction of the Class 99 fleet is expected to bring both operational efficiency and environmental improvements, marking a significant milestone for GB Railfreight as it prepares for a major service expansion next year.
