Polish regional operator Koleje Mazowieckie (Masovian Railways) has signed a contract with Stadler Polska for the delivery of 11 additional FLIRT electric multiple units, completing the operator’s largest-ever investment programme. The new agreement brings the total number of trains to be supplied under the framework to 75, with 64 units already contracted.

The 11 new vehicles will be manufactured at Stadler’s Siedlce plant, in partnership with local suppliers, and are expected to enhance passenger comfort across the Masovian region. Alongside the delivery of trains, the contract includes maintenance services, technical training for staff, and repair packages.

Production of the previously ordered 64 units is proceeding on schedule, with 25 trains currently at various stages of manufacturing, commissioning, and type testing. Once the full fleet is delivered, Masovian Railways will operate 146 FLIRT trains, making it the largest fleet of this type in Poland.

The new trains promise improvements in both comfort and safety for passengers travelling between Warsaw and regional towns. Lightweight aluminum construction, low energy consumption, and a top speed of 160 km/h are complemented by air conditioning, CCTV, Wi-Fi, passenger information systems, and onboard defibrillators. Each unit is fully accessible for passengers with reduced mobility.

The collaboration between Stadler Polska and Masovian Railways spans nearly two decades. The first FLIRT trains, delivered in 2006, continue to operate reliably on regional routes such as Warsaw–Siedlce. Between 2020 and 2023, Stadler delivered 61 units, and the contracts signed in 2024–2025 will deliver a further 75 trains.

Adam Struzik, Marshal of Masovian Voivodeship, said:

"Mazovian Railways is one of the most modern regional carriers in the country, partly because they are constantly investing in new rolling stock. In March, we signed a contract for the purchase of 14 FLIRT trains, and today we signed another contract, this time for 11 trains. In total, the entire project will include the purchase of 75 trains, and the first of them will be on the tracks in April 2026."

Robert Stępień, CEO and General Director of Masovian Railways, added:

“We are pleased to see the full implementation of the framework agreement for 75 FLIRT trains. This marks an important milestone for our company and a further step toward modernizing our fleet. The purchase of 64 units has already received EU funding, and we will be applying for additional funding for the remaining 11.”

Radosław Banach, CEO of Stadler Polska, said:

“The signing of this final executive contract is a milestone for us. Completing the full framework agreement allows us to continue expanding our Siedlce operations and strengthening our presence in the region. This year alone, we have created nearly 400 new jobs at Stadler Polska, and our engineering team has grown to 100 specialists – and we are still recruiting. This is excellent news not only for Stadler but also for our local partners, who play a vital role in delivering this project.”
