Great Western Railway will run 54 trains and provide more than 27,500 seats for supporters travelling to Cardiff for Sunday’s Six Nations clash between Wales and France. The operator says demand is expected to be high for the 1510 kick-off at the Principality Stadium on 15 February.

All services heading to Cardiff before the match will be reservation only, and customers are being strongly urged to book in advance. GWR will offer 14,500 seats for fans travelling from across its network ahead of the game, including five additional services to boost capacity. With stadium gates opening early, passengers are encouraged to travel ahead of the busiest periods to help ensure a smoother journey.

Following the final whistle, expected at around 1700, trains are likely to be extremely busy. GWR will operate 26 services after the match, providing almost 13,000 seats in total. This includes an extra 2,400 seats on top of the 10,500 already scheduled on planned services.

A queuing system will be in place outside Cardiff Central station to manage crowds and allow passengers to board safely. Post-match services will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and reservations will not be required for the journey home. Transport for Wales is also planning additional pre- and post-match services for the fixture.

GWR Customer Services Director, Rachel Geliamassi, said:

“We're delighted to be laying on significant extra capacity for what promises to be a thrilling Six Nations clash at the Principality Stadium. We'd urge fans to plan ahead and secure their seats early to avoid disappointment. Please allow sufficient time to make your journey and remember that trains will be extremely busy leading up to kick-off and immediately following the match.”
