An Altnabreac couple are due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court today, Thursday 27 November, following their arrest by Police Scotland on Wednesday.

Ian Appleby, 48, and Elizabeth Howe, 49, were taken into custody near their home at the former station house at Altnabreac railway station. Their arrest was livestreamed on their YouTube channel and can be viewed here.

The couple have been involved in a long-running dispute with Network Rail over access to land near the station, which has remained closed for over a year while the rail company was unable to carry out work on the platform. They were previously accused of recording court proceedings related to the case.

Police Scotland confirmed the arrests, saying:

“A 48-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection with offences under the Contempt of Court Act following the execution of a warrant in the Halkirk area on Wednesday, November 26. They are due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Thursday, November 27.”
