Images Released After Staff Member Punched at Blackfriars Station

British Transport Police have issued an appeal for information after releasing images of a man they want to trace following an assault on a member of rail staff at Blackfriars station.

The incident happened just after 8pm on Wednesday 31 December. Officers say a man attempted to leave the station via a gate that had been closed and demanded that it be opened.

When the request was refused by a member of staff, the situation escalated. Police allege the man responded by punching the staff member in the face before leaving the area.

Detectives believe the individual shown in the released images may be able to assist with their enquiries and are keen to identify him as part of the ongoing investigation.

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 508 of 31 December. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
