Inquest opens into death of man struck by train at New Milton station
A man from New Milton died after being struck by a train, an inquest has heard.
Paul Wheeler, 52, of Wick Close, was fatally injured at platform one of New Milton railway station on 5 March. Emergency services, including paramedics and officers from British Transport Police, were called to the scene at around 11.10am.
Despite their efforts, Mr Wheeler was pronounced dead at the station.
Details of the incident were outlined during a hearing at Winchester Coroners’ Court last Wednesday, where the provisional cause of death was given as multiple traumatic injuries.
The court also heard that Bipolar Disorder and Schizoaffective Disorder were recorded as secondary factors.
The hearing was adjourned, with a full inquest scheduled to take place at the same court on 27 January 2027.
