Lines Closed As Person Hit by Train Between Streatham Common and Selhurst
Train services were severely disrupted earlier after a person was struck by a train on the railway between Streatham Common and Selhurst. Lines have since reopened and service recovery is now in progress.
Emergency services were called to the scene, leading to the closure of all lines through the affected section of the route. As a result, significant disruption was felt across the Selhurst and Norwood Junction area, with trains cancelled, altered or delayed by up to an hour.
Rail operators have warned that disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day, although delays could extend beyond this depending on the length of time to recover services. At this time there has been no information provided regarding the person involved.
No trains are able to operate between Streatham Common and Sutton via West Croydon until further notice, cutting off a key corridor for south London commuters.
Passengers travelling from London towards East Croydon and destinations beyond are being advised to allow an additional 40 minutes for their journeys, as services could still be diverted around the incident location.
Those heading towards London Victoria are still being directed to travel via London Bridge at this time, where tickets will be accepted on alternative transport options.
