LNER Launches New First Class Winter Menus With Local Produce
LNER has unveiled a refreshed First Class food and drink offering for the colder months, marking the launch of its new Winter menus that showcase ingredients sourced from suppliers along the East Coast route.
The operator has simplified its complimentary catering by introducing two redesigned menus, titled Winter Dish and Winter Signature. These will be available to First Class customers until 7 April 2026 and include a mix of lighter options and more substantial chef-prepared meals.
Among the highlights on the Winter Signature menu are new Chef Specials, including a woodland mushroom and dark ale pie served with champ mash and vegetable gravy. The meal is followed by a traditional treacle sponge with custard for dessert.
Morning travellers will continue to be offered LNER’s established breakfast options, with the ‘Full LNER’ and ‘Full Veggie LNER’ available earlier in the day. Across all services, customers can also choose from items such as a creamy avocado muffin, bacon sandwich, plant-based sausage sandwich, toasted teacake, or mango and passion fruit overnight oats.
Seasonal comfort food features prominently across both menus, with options including a croque monsieur made using Wiltshire ham and a Mexican bean chipotle wrap. Those looking for something lighter later in the day can opt for dishes such as a beetroot kimchi salad with sweetcorn hummus and Asian-style slaw, or a charcuterie grazing box offering a mix of cured meats and cheeses.
An additional option available on selected weekday services is a halal chicken and apricot tagine, accompanied by gluten-free couscous and quinoa, which appears on both the Winter Dish and Winter Signature menus from Monday to Friday.
Sara Jenson, Hospitality Manager at LNER, said:
“We take great pride in the food and drink we serve on our trains. For our new First Class Winter menus, we’ve worked closely with selected local suppliers to provide choices that are fresh, seasonal, tasty, and offer variety for our customers to enjoy.”
