An 18-year-old woman has been remanded in custody after admitting entering railway tracks and stopping a train in Haverfordwest.

Jaylene Bamford, of Britannia Drive, Pembroke Dock, appeared before magistrates at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court by video link from prison. During the hearing, she pleaded guilty to trespassing on the railway and obstructing a train.

The court was told that Bamford was arrested on January 14 after she was discovered on the tracks at Haverfordwest railway station in the Cartlett area. Prosecutors said her presence on the line led to an engine being brought to a standstill.

Magistrates ordered that she be held in custody ahead of sentencing, pending the preparation of a full probation report.
