Major Delays on GO Transit Kitchener Line After Person Hit By Train
Rail services on the Kitchener GO line were suspended through Guelph on Thursday morning after Metrolinx confirmed a person had been struck by a train.
Trips scheduled from as early as 6:07 a.m. were cancelled as emergency crews responded to the scene. An online service alert stated the incident occurred east of Guelph Central GO station, with emergency services in attendance.
Guelph Police later confirmed officers were at York Road and Watson Parkway as part of an active investigation. Authorities have not released details about the circumstances surrounding the incident or the condition of the individual involved.
With trains unable to pass through the affected section, Metrolinx is advising passengers travelling towards Toronto to consider alternative routes, including Georgetown GO, Mount Pleasant GO or the Milton line.
GO Transit said:
“Trains cannot move through the area until a full investigation is completed. There will be significant delays and possible cancellations.”
