Rail services at London Liverpool Street have been severely disrupted after a previously reported signalling fault returned, preventing trains from using several platforms at the station.

Platforms 7, 8, 9 and 10 are currently unavailable, significantly reducing capacity at one of the capital’s busiest terminals. Network Rail has confirmed that engineers are unable to carry out repairs while trains continue to run, meaning the work will take place overnight in an effort to resolve the problem.

As a result, passengers are being warned to expect cancellations, alterations and delays of up to 30 minutes. The disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.

A number of routes are affected, including Greater Anglia services between London Liverpool Street and destinations such as Braintree, Colchester Town, Clacton-on-Sea, Stansted Airport, Cambridge North, Ipswich and Norwich. London Overground services between Liverpool Street and Chingford, Enfield Town and Cheshunt are also impacted, along with Stansted Express services to and from the airport.

Greater Anglia and Stansted Express have advised that some services will be cancelled or diverted to start and terminate at alternative stations to help ease congestion around Liverpool Street. London Overground has confirmed that tickets will be accepted on London Buses at no extra cost via reasonable routes.

Passengers are being urged to check the latest travel information with their train operator before setting off.
