Man dies after falling ill on Redbridge Underground train
A man has died after falling unwell on a train at Redbridge Underground station.
British Transport Police were called at around 4.45pm on Wednesday 17 December following reports of a person taken ill on the train. Members of the public attempted to assist the man before emergency services arrived. Despite the efforts of London Ambulance Service crews, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The London Ambulance Service dispatched an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a clinical team manager, motorcycle paramedics, and staff from their Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).
Police have confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said:
“Officers were called at around 4.45pm on Wednesday 17 December to reports of a person taken unwell on a train at Redbridge Underground station. Members of the public came to the man's aid prior to the arrival of emergency services, however sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added:
“We were called at 4.45pm on Wednesday 17 December to reports of a person unwell at Redbridge Underground Station, Ilford. We sent resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a clinical team manager, motorcycle paramedics and paramedics from our hazardous area response team (HART). Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.”
