Police have identified the man whose body was discovered beside a railway line in Carmarthen, following an emergency response that disrupted services over the weekend.

The discovery was made on the morning of Saturday, January 10, after passengers travelling through Carmarthen reported seeing what appeared to be a body in a field adjacent to the station. Emergency crews, including officers from Dyfed-Powys Police and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service, were subsequently deployed to the area shortly after 8.30am.

Officers were seen working in a field next to the railway station while trains passed through the area. Police later confirmed that a body had been recovered from the scene.

The man has now been formally named as Edward Mark Owen, aged 32, who was from the Knighton area of Powys. Police have confirmed that enquiries into the circumstances of his death remain ongoing, but there are no indications of suspicious circumstances.
