A Metra commuter train collided with a small snowplow vehicle at Bartlett station on Monday morning, sending the operator of the vehicle to hospital.

The incident happened at around 8:30 a.m. at the Bartlett commuter station when an Elgin-bound service on the Milwaukee District West line struck a Bobcat-type snowplow. The vehicle was being operated by an employee of Bartlett village at the time of the collision.

Metra said the snowplow operator was taken to Ascension Alexian Brothers hospital in Elk Grove Village. Officials said his condition was not immediately known.

No injuries were reported among passengers or crew on board the train. However, the collision led to a temporary suspension of services on the line.

Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said train movements on the route were stopped for approximately an hour following the crash while the scene was dealt with.
