Minor injuries after Metra train collides with car in west suburban Hinsdale
A Metra train collided with a car on Monday morning at a crossing in Hinsdale, Illinois, leaving the vehicle’s driver injured.
The incident occurred around 11:34 a.m. at the Monroe Street crossing, according to the Hinsdale Police Department. Video released by police shows the car approaching the tracks, stopping with its front slightly over the line, then reversing just before being struck by the train.
The train sustained mechanical damage, and passengers were transferred to another service. The driver of the car was taken to Hinsdale Hospital with minor injuries.
Authorities advised motorists to avoid the Monroe Street crossing and warned that train services could face delays due to the crash.
