Northern Returns to the Great British Rail Sale with Millions of Discounted Tickets
Northern passengers are being urged to plan ahead as the Great British Rail Sale returns this January, offering millions of discounted train tickets across the UK.
Running from 6 to 12 January 2026, the nationwide promotion allows customers to purchase advance fares for travel between 13 January and 25 March 2026, including many journeys starting or finishing on Northern’s network. More than three million tickets will be available, with savings of 50% or more on a wide range of routes.
Discounted fares can be booked through all usual channels, including online, mobile apps, at stations, and ticket offices. Some of the deals available on Northern services include:
Manchester Piccadilly to Manchester Airport – £1.20 (usual £2.90, saving 59%)
Liverpool Lime Street to Wigan North Western – £1.60 (usual £3.60, saving 57%)
Newcastle to Middlesbrough – £2 (usual £5.20, saving 62%)
Blackpool North to Manchester Piccadilly – £3.50 (usual £7.90, saving 56%)
Bolton to Manchester Piccadilly – £1 (usual £2.50, saving 60%)
Tickets are limited and valid on selected services, so customers are encouraged to book early to secure the best deals.
