A fatal incident at a Kent railway station prompted an emergency response from police and paramedics on Thursday evening.

British Transport Police were first called to Strood station at around 7.50pm on January 15 after reports of a medical emergency. Officers attended alongside ambulance crews, but despite their efforts, the individual involved was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious. Standard procedures will now follow, with a report to be prepared for the coroner.

Later the same evening, officers were required to return to the station following a separate report. This second call-out came approximately 40 minutes after the earlier incident.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said:

“Officers were alerted to a concern for welfare for a person at Strood station yesterday (Thursday) at around 8.30pm. The person was spoken to and the issue resolved.”
