Person Dies in Early-Morning Railway Incident Near Coundon, Coventry

A tragic incident on the railway line between Nuneaton and Coventry has resulted in the death of a person early this morning. British Transport Police confirmed that officers were called to the scene near Coundon shortly after 4am on December 16.

Engines from Coventry and Foleshill fire stations, along with paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service, attended the scene following 999 calls received at 4.20am. The Coundon Road level crossing was temporarily closed, and all train services between Nuneaton and Coventry were cancelled. Service has now resumed.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the victim may have been a man. British Transport Police stated that the death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

British Transport Police said:

"Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks at around 4.20am today (16 December) near Coundon, Coventry. Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
