Person pronounced dead after emergency services called to Shotton railway station
British Transport Police have confirmed that a person died on the railway line at Shotton on the evening of January 7. Emergency services were alerted shortly after 6.10pm following reports that a body had been seen on the tracks at the station.
Multiple emergency crews attended, including police, ambulance teams and firefighters, and the railway was the focus of a significant response. The person was pronounced dead at the scene after being located by responders.
British Transport Police said that enquiries are under way to establish the circumstances surrounding the death. Witnesses in the area reported seeing several emergency vehicles at the station during the incident.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said:
"Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 6.10pm yesterday ( January 7) at Shotton railway station. Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased. Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances leading up to their death."
