British Transport Police have issued a public appeal after releasing CCTV images linked to an investigation into a high-value theft at Selby railway station. Officers say they are keen to identify a woman they believe may be able to assist with enquiries.

The incident is reported to have taken place between 4.50pm and 5.35pm on Thursday 15 January on platform two at the station. During that time, a black Air Jordan rucksack was stolen. Police say the bag contained an Apple MacBook, an iPad and several other personal items.

Investigators believe the woman shown in the CCTV images boarded the 5.35pm service to Liverpool Lime Street shortly after the theft. She is then believed to have left the train at Leeds railway station.

Officers say the woman may have information that could prove important to the investigation and are urging anyone who recognises her to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 622 of 15 January. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
