Police Hunt Suspect After Two Unprovoked Central Line Assaults
The first incident occurred at about 3pm on Tuesday 11 November at Marble Arch Underground station. As a woman descended the escalator close to platform one, she walked past a man who, without warning, slapped her across the face and began shouting. The suspect then boarded a train and left the station.
Approximately 10 minutes later, a second woman, who was travelling with her family, including her children, was targeted on a train approaching Lancaster Gate. A man is reported to have walked up to her, shouted, and then struck her forcefully across the face before leaving the carriage.
Both victims are receiving support, and detectives have taken statements from witnesses who were present at the time. Officers reiterated that such behaviour will be confronted robustly and that passengers should feel safe using the rail network. In a statement, police said:
"Violent offences, especially those targeting women and girls, will absolutely not be tolerated and we will do everything we can to identify offenders and bring them to justice."
Investigators believe the man in the images may hold vital information and could assist with the ongoing inquiry.
