Police Release CCTV Image After Assault on Victoria to Denmark Hill Train

British Transport Police have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to identify following an alleged assault on a train travelling from London Victoria to Denmark Hill.

The incident is reported to have taken place at around 8.30pm on Wednesday 3 December. Officers say the man sat next to a woman during the journey and then threatened to punch her. He is also accused of sexually harassing her while on board.

As the woman attempted to move away, the man is said to have deliberately blocked her from leaving her seat. The situation was eventually defused when another passenger intervened, at which point the man allowed the woman to pass.

Investigators believe the individual shown in the CCTV image could hold vital information that may assist their enquiries. British Transport Police are now appealing to the public for help in identifying him.

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 778 of 3 December. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
