Detectives have released an image of two individuals they wish to speak to following an assault and racially motivated abuse targeting a woman and her family in central London.

The incident occurred at approximately 7.30pm on Saturday 11 October, as the victim was entering Bond Street Underground station with her sister and two young children, one in a pushchair. Officers say a man and woman walking ahead collided with the pushchair.

The man then shouted racial abuse at the family, while the woman grabbed the victim’s hair. When the victim attempted to defend herself, the man produced a small bottle, claiming it contained pepper spray, and sprayed it in their direction. The woman shouted further abuse and made lewd gestures before both left the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate the nature of the substance, though no one reported any ill effects.

Officers believe the man and woman pictured may have information vital to the enquiry. Anyone who recognises them is asked to text BTP on 61016, quoting reference 413 of 12 October. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
