Railway security guard jailed for assaulting teenage girl at Worcester station
A security guard who abused his position to target a 14‑year‑old girl at a Worcestershire railway station has been jailed for three years and eight months.
Aamar Mohammed, 35, of Shireland Road in Sandwell, was convicted of two counts of Sexual Assault after a week‑long trial. Worcester Crown Court imposed the sentence on 12 January, alongside an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He will remain on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.
The court heard that the incident happened on 14 November 2021 at Worcester Shrub Hill station. Mohammed, wearing a high‑visibility vest, approached the teenager and asked about her travel plans. He accompanied her to the platform before disappearing into a nearby office.
He later invited her into that office, suggesting it would be warmer while she waited for her train. As she approached, he switched off the lights. Once inside, he forced himself on her and sexually assaulted her. The girl managed to escape and return to the platform, boarding her train moments later. Mohammed then stepped out of the office and waved as the train departed.
The victim, who sustained bruising during the attack, told her family what had happened, and police were contacted immediately. Mohammed was arrested later that evening. A detailed investigation by British Transport Police detectives followed, resulting in multiple charges.
Throughout the case, specialist support was provided to the victim. Mohammed later failed to attend a court hearing and was rearrested at his home in March 2023.
BTP Detective Constable Tim Friend said:
“Aamar Mohammed used his trusted position as a station security guard to groom a teenage girl and subject her to a deplorable sexual assault. His attack was so forceful that it left the victim with physical injuries, and will no doubt have a lasting impact on her psychologically. It is down to her bravery in reporting him to police, and determination to stick with the process as it progressed through the courts, that we have been able to bring a truly vile man to justice. We will stop at nothing to ensure sexual predators like Mohammed are removed from our communities and put behind bars where they belong.”
