Toronto Woman Arrested After Vehicle Collides With GO Train
A woman has been arrested in Toronto after her car was struck by a train at a west-end GO station, police confirmed.
The collision occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on Wednesday near the Etobicoke North GO station on Kipling Avenue, just north of Highway 409. Toronto police said the 19-year-old driver was arrested and sustained minor injuries. A male passenger in the vehicle was not injured.
Paramedics transported one patient to hospital. Police confirmed that no passengers on the train were reported injured.
Toronto Fire assisted passengers off the train. Some were moved onto a GO bus, while others made their own arrangements to continue their journeys, including travel to the airport.
Train service on the UP Express and the GO Kitchener line was temporarily delayed, with tracks reopening around 11:30 p.m., according to Metrolinx.
Toronto police have charged the driver with impaired driving as investigations continue.
