Person Dies Following Incident at Bramley Railway Station
Police have confirmed that a person died at a West Yorkshire railway station on New Year’s Day, following an incident on the tracks.
Emergency services were called to Bramley railway station at 8.08pm on Thursday, January 1, after reports were received of a casualty on the line. Paramedics attended the scene, but the individual was pronounced dead at the station.
The incident led to widespread disruption on the route, with a number of services via Bramley and New Pudsey cancelled over the course of the evening.
West Yorkshire Police said the circumstances surrounding the death are not being treated as suspicious. A file will now be prepared for the coroner.
Train operator Northern confirmed that services were affected while emergency services dealt with the incident. A spokesperson for Northern at the time said:
"We have been made aware that the emergency services are dealing with an incident between Leeds and Bradford Interchange. Train services running through these stations will be cancelled, delayed or revised."
West Yorkshire Police also issued a statement. A spokesperson said:
"Officers were called to Bramley railway station at 8.08pm yesterday (January 1) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
