Train incident causes major disruption between Edinburgh and Berwick-upon-Tweed
A person has been hit by a train between Edinburgh and Berwick-upon-Tweed, leading to widespread disruption on services in the area. The emergency services have completed their work and lines have now reopened, with delays of up to 45 minutes, and revised services expected until at least 16:00.
The incident is affecting multiple operators, including CrossCountry between Edinburgh and Newcastle, LNER services between Edinburgh and Newcastle or London Kings Cross, as well as LNER routes from Inverness and Aberdeen to London. TransPennine Express trains connecting Edinburgh and Newcastle are also impacted.
The operator has arranged ticket acceptance across other rail services, and travellers are advised to check with their operator before starting their journey.
LNER has advised customers to defer travel until 1st or 2nd December if possible and has confirmed ticket acceptance on alternative operators. TransPennine Express has made similar arrangements for ticket acceptance, with passengers advised to confirm details before travelling.
