Urgent appeal after man brutally assaulted on Glasgow to Falkirk train
Detectives have launched an urgent appeal for witnesses after a man was left with serious facial injuries following an assault on a late-night train in central Scotland.
The incident happened on Saturday 18 April aboard the 11.08pm service from Glasgow Queen Street railway station to Falkirk Grahamston railway station. Officers say a man approached a group of young women on the train and began harassing them.
Another passenger intervened, asking the individual to leave the women alone. In response, the man allegedly launched an attack, repeatedly punching him in the face.
The suspect then left the train at Camelon railway station. The injured passenger was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
The British Transport Police is now appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward, with particular interest in speaking to the women who were initially targeted.
Detective Constable Liam Deasley said:
“We are urging any of the other passengers on the train who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and help our investigation. We are particularly keen to hear from the women involved in the original incident to get in touch. To do so, please text us on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 531 of 19 April.”
Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
