Worcester Shrub Hill closed this weekend for major railway upgrades
Rail users in Worcester are being told to prepare for disruption this weekend as significant improvement work takes place at Worcester Shrub Hill station.
Network Rail engineers will carry out maintenance on the station’s footbridge and canopies, alongside upgrades to track drainage in the area. The work is intended to strengthen the station’s infrastructure and ensure the railway remains safe and dependable into the future.
Passengers travelling through Worcester Shrub Hill across the weekend should expect changes to their journeys while the upgrades are completed.
Train operators and Network Rail have coordinated plans to limit disruption, but no trains will serve Worcester Shrub Hill on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November.
West Midlands Railway and Great Western Railway services will run with rail replacement buses in use and amended timetables, meaning journeys will take longer than usual.
Martin Colmey, operations director for Network Rail Central route, said: “These essential station and track upgrades will improve journeys for passengers and help keep the railway safe and reliable. We know there is never a good time to close the railway but this work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum and we thank passengers for their patience while we do the work. If you're planning to travel, please plan ahead allowing extra time for your journey and check before you travel for the latest journey information and travel advice.”
