Emergency Response at Howden Station After Individual Found Dead on Tracks
A person has died on the tracks near Howden Railway Station in East Yorkshire.
British Transport Police confirmed officers were called to the scene at 6.32am on Tuesday, December 16. Paramedics also attended, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not currently being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
The incident caused widespread disruption to rail services. National Rail alerted passengers at 6.54am that all lines between Selby and Hull had been cancelled. Northern services connecting Hull with Selby, York, and Leeds experienced delays and cancellations until 10.18am.
Other affected routes included TransPennine Express services from Hull to Liverpool, LNER trains between Hull and London King’s Cross, and Hull Trains services linking Beverley, Hull, and London King’s Cross. Passengers were offered rail replacement services and permitted to use tickets on alternative routes.
