Gatwick Airport to East Croydon trains disrupted after person hit by train
Rail services between Gatwick Airport and East Croydon faced major disruption on Saturday, January 3rd, after a person was tragically struck by a train. All lines were blocked while emergency services attended the scene.
Southern Rail issued a statement at the time, advising passengers of the impact on services:
“A person has been hit by a train between Gatwick Airport and East Croydon. Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, some lines between these stations are closed. Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised. Disruption was expected until 22:00.”
Delays and cancellations continued throughout the day, with services eventually returning to normal at approximately 9.13pm. No further details have been released regarding the individual involved in the incident.
