Glasgow Central Services Back to Normal After Overhead Line Repairs
Train services in and out of Glasgow Central have returned to their usual timetable after engineers completed urgent repairs to damaged overhead wires.
The disruption, which affected routes across the south side of Glasgow as well as services to Paisley, Ayrshire and long-distance journeys to London, Liverpool and Manchester, caused cancellations and delays throughout Thursday. Network Rail teams worked through the night to restore the infrastructure and allow a full service to resume.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the damage, which left several platforms out of use for much of the day before gradually reopening by late afternoon.
In an update shared on social media, Network Rail Scotland said:
"All repairs to the damaged overhead wires at Glasgow Central are complete and a full service will operate this morning. Thank you again for your patience yesterday, we're sorry for the disruption."
