Kitten left on ScotRail service placed in foster care as owner search begins
ScotRail staff are trying to trace the owner of a kitten discovered alone on one of the network’s morning services. The young cat was found inside a carrier left on the 08:25 train travelling between Helensburgh Central and Edinburgh Waverley on Thursday.
Railway workers took the female kitten, believed to be around six months old, to Dalmuir station after she was found. She was later transferred into the care of Cats Protection in Glasgow and has since been placed with a foster carer.
The charity has given her the temporary name Annie, inspired by the orphan character from the musical of the same name. Staff say she appeared frightened when first discovered but has settled quickly in foster care.
The kitten has a blue and grey carrier and is described as having a striped coat with brown, black and grey colouring, along with white socks on her paws. Anyone who recognises her or has information about the circumstances in which she was left is being urged to contact Cats Protection.
Cats Protection Glasgow branch co-ordinator, Elaine Brennan, said:
"Thankfully, we have been able to quickly place the kitten in the care of one of our dedicated fosterers. Although initially scared, she has quickly revealed her playful nature and hasn't let the ordeal phase her. We are hoping her owner gets in touch, however, it sadly looks like she may have been abandoned."
