Man killed after being struck by train near Coventry
A fatal railway incident near Coventry is being investigated after a man was struck by a train on Saturday evening.
Emergency services were called to the railway line close to Ironbridge Way at around 8.50pm on January 3 after reports of a casualty on the tracks. The man was later found critically injured on Blackhorse Road in Exhall, where paramedics assessed his condition.
Despite efforts by emergency crews, the man’s injuries were so severe that he could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at the scene, a decision confirmed by West Midlands Ambulance Service.
British Transport Police officers attended alongside paramedics and have begun enquiries to establish the circumstances that led up to the incident. At this stage, no further personal details about the man have been released.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said:
“We were called to an incident on Blackhorse Road in Coventry at 8.49pm on Saturday. Crews found a male patient, and sadly, it quickly became clear he could not be saved. He was confirmed dead at the scene.”
A spokesman for British Transport Police said:
“Officers were called to the line near Coventry at 8.48pm on Saturday following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however, sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances leading up to their death.”
