Police are seeking witnesses following a reported incident of indecent behaviour on a train travelling into Hull.

The incident is said to have taken place at around 10.30am on Saturday 14 March, shortly after a woman and her two teenage children boarded a service at Beverley station. The family took seats at a table already occupied by a man.

It was only moments later that the woman became aware of the man allegedly engaging in inappropriate behaviour beneath the table. Reacting quickly, she challenged him before moving her children away from the situation.

Authorities were contacted, and officers subsequently met the train upon its arrival at Hull station. A 65-year-old man was detained in connection with the incident and later released on bail while enquiries continue.

Investigators are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the events to come forward as they work to establish a full account of what happened.

The man is described as white, with long grey hair, and was reportedly wearing a yellow top along with loose-fitting blue jeans at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 234 of 14 March. Anonymous reports can also be made via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
