Detectives have released an image as part of an investigation into a reported sexual assault at Birmingham New Street railway station.

The incident began at around 10pm on Saturday 3 January 2026, when a man is alleged to have approached a woman on a platform at the station and behaved inappropriately. Police say the situation escalated when the woman was sexually assaulted.

After pushing the man away, the woman boarded a train bound for Kidderminster. Investigators say the man followed her onto the service, sat beside her and carried out a further sexual assault during the journey.

The man is reported to have left the train upon its arrival at Kidderminster railway station. Officers believe the individual shown in the released image may be able to assist with enquiries and are keen to speak with him.

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 315 of 5 January. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
