Police Appeal After Woman Assaulted on Swinton to Mexborough Train

British Transport Police are urging a woman and several passengers to come forward following a reported assault on a train travelling between Swinton and Mexborough.

The incident took place just before 5pm on Sunday 14 December. Officers say a man boarded the service at Swinton before attacking a woman, punching her and pulling her hair while on board.

The victim left the train at Mexborough, while other passengers stepped in and removed the man from the service at Connisborough. He later boarded another train towards Doncaster, where police officers intercepted him.

The man was arrested on suspicion of affray and for assaulting an emergency service worker. Investigators are now keen to speak with the woman who was assaulted, as well as any passengers who witnessed the incident or intervened to help.
