Police Release CCTV Image After District Line Sexual Assault

British Transport Police have issued a public appeal to identify a man following a reported sexual assault on a District line train during the evening rush hour.

The incident is said to have taken place on Tuesday 11 November. A woman who boarded the service at West Ham at 5.27pm became aware that a man was staring at her, leaving her feeling uneasy as the train continued its journey.

Police say that as the train pulled into Upton Park just three minutes later, the man sexually assaulted the woman while leaving the carriage.

Detectives believe the individual shown in the released CCTV image may be able to assist with their investigation and are urging anyone who recognises him to get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference number 584 of 11 November. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
