White Notley Schoolchildren Bring Christmas Cheer to Local Train Station
Schoolchildren from White Notley Primary School spread festive cheer at their local railway station before performing Christmas carols on board a Greater Anglia train on 10 December.
Under the guidance of Head of School Patsy Fitzpatrick, the children walked from their village school to White Notley station, where they treated passengers and locals to a lively recorder rendition of Jingle Bells, followed by a spirited performance of We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
The group then boarded a train for a short journey to Braintree, continuing the festive celebrations with two more seasonal songs before returning to White Notley.
The event was organised by station adopter Scott Dolling, in collaboration with Greater Anglia and the Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership.
Scott Dolling said:
“It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces at the station, with many of the children travelling on a train for the first time. Connecting the community to its local station is at the heart of what station adopters do, and this visit was a really fun and positive example of that.”
Alan Neville, Greater Anglia’s Customer and Community Engagement Manager, added:
“We were absolutely delighted to support this festive trip. Activities like this help connect communities with their local railway, making stations welcoming and vibrant places. It’s wonderful to see young people experiencing the railway in such a memorable and positive way.”
